The different elements that make it whole are like memorable characters that come together in an unfolding story where the wearer of the fragrance is the protagonist. Needless to say, how a scent impacts an individual is different from person to person. This is why number of types of perfumes out there are so wide and varied.

A good perfume maker or perfumer understands that the art of making fragrances is both a science and an art. The science provides you with the techniques, tools and understanding of the chemistry of smell. The art allows you to imagine and mix together a masterpiece of a scent.

In this activity, your child will find out more about the world of perfume making and explore the inner workings of our sense of smell. She/He will be able to journal, design and imagine the creation of their own scents.  

It will help your child or student:

  • Explore the science of smell and discover how scents, emotions and memories are all linked and inextricably intertwined.
  • Exercise his/her creative mind and sense of smell to think about what fragrance notes/smells can be combined to create a unique perfume.
  • Improve his/her artistic and creative skills by designing, naming, colouring and adding different ideas to their interpretations of different perfumes.
