Welcome to Kimberly, the rugged northern region of Western Australia. Our intrepid young explorers, Peppy & Lili have encountered a very peculiar native animal. A towering beast of a bird, its long slender neck sits above a large magnificent body covered in dark brown plumage. Its strong dark feet armed with three sharp menacing claws on each side serve as a powerful reminder of its ferocity.

A flightless bird featured prominently in local Aboriginal mythology and folklore, the Emu is no stranger to Australians around the world. It stands proudly side by side the great red kangaroo in the Australian coat of arms. It represents among many things, curiosity, cunningness and ingenuity. Let's find out more about this intriguing cousin of the Ostrich who lives half way across the globe in the land down under!
