Let's Design Hot Air Balloons

Over 500 hot air balloons fly each year in October at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the biggest hot air balloon festival in the world. Hundreds of thousands of guests from around the world gather over nine days to witness the flight of hot air balloons of all shapes, colours and sizes. It's truly a visually amazing spectacle of enormous proportions.

This creative printable activity encourages your child to think about what designs their hot air balloons should be if they were to enter a hot air balloon festival.

In this activity, your child have an opportunity to learn about the history of hot air balloons and understand more about why it continues to captivate people today. She/He will also be able to custom design a few of their own.

• Learn about the history, the evolution of the hot air balloon and the festivals that continue to promote them.
• Improve his/her artistic and creative skills by designing, colouring and adding different custom elements to hot air balloons.
