You're stranded in a remote jungle island with nothing but a few practical tools and your wits to survive. There are wild animals all around you. You're getting tired and hungry. The harsh weather is beating you down. Your only hope is to get your hands dirty and start building a campsite until a rescue team reaches you.

Sounds familiar? Yes, we've all watched Tom Hanks in Cast Away and the hit reality TV series Survivor. Most of us are, both, terrified and yet deeply fascinated with the great outdoors. Although the prospect of getting lost or stranded in a remote jungle is close to nothing for urban folks like us, one can't help but wonder.

This creative design challenge is a fun activity to explore such an exciting scenario with our creativity and imagination.

Age: 6 to 9 year olds, Activity Time: 1-2 hours, Items Needed: Colouring pencils

In this activity, your child will learn some basic ideas of jungle and wilderness survival. She/He will also an opportunity to design some basic jungle survival items on the printables.

It will help your child or student:

  • Exercise his/her creative mind and help them explore different real-life scenarios and ideas in a fun/safe way. It also provides them with an avenue for self-expression.
  • Improve his/her artistic and creative skills by designing, colouring and adding different building elements to their constructs.
