Would you like a grasshopper oatmeal cookie with rainbow sprinkles? Do you care for a beetle and pine nut biscotti? Perhaps could we entice you with a delicate mealworm macaroon? Yes, these are all biscuits with bugs in them.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), there are an estimated 1900 types of edible bugs and many are regularly consumed by over 2 billion people around the world. Not only are insects full of protein, fibre and nutrients, they are also good for the planet. This is because insects (compared to cows) require significantly less land and water to produce the same amount of protein. They also release about 10 to 100 times less greenhouse emissions than regular livestock like pigs.

In this creative printable worksheet set, we explore the fascinating world of edible insects!
