Celebrating Black Inventors

As we start our journey of Black History Month, we are thrilled to introduce a creative printable activity that honours the brilliance, perseverance and ingenious minds of Black inventors. We want to highlight the accomplishments of Black inventors to emphasise the importance of diversity in the stories of innovation and invention.

This activity allows our students to find new role models who have not only overcome obstacles but have also made a significant impact on our daily lives.

Printable & Activity Objectives

This activity seeks to introduce elementary students to the various contributions of Black inventors throughout history. It aims to enrich the students' understanding of diversity, history, and to cultivate a sense of pride and curiosity.

It will help your child or student with:

1. Diverse Representation: Students can explore and learn about the contributions of Black inventors in various fields, including science, technology, medicine and everyday innovations.
2. Inspiration and New Role Models: Introduces students to inspirational Black inventors who have overcome challenges to make a societal impact, fostering a sense of admiration and providing positive role models for all students.
3. Cultural Appreciation: Encourages cultural appreciation by showcasing the impact of Black inventors on society, helping students understand the rich cultural and historical contributions of Black communities.
4. Hands-on Research: This PBL (project based learning) activity engages students in hands-on research and encourages independent learning as they explore books, articles and resources to gather information about their chosen inventors.
