This creative printable activity for kids is a fun art exercise to encourage children to imagine new design ideas through a colourful and familiar thematic idea... being in a candy shop!
Blank canvases can often be intimidating to children (and even adults) and may lead to directionless and unmotivated designs. By providing a familiar theme, we hope to spark new ideas in children and help them to see that design inspiration can be found in many things around us.
Let's working on these sweet sunglass designs!

Classroom Resources
Simple steps to start:
Research and find out more about the history of sunglasses. Here's a fun video which covers the ancient and modern developments of "shades" or sunglasses :)
Here's an interesting video about the function and the design of eyeglasses and frames over the years.
Take a look at the different types of candy available to get some design inspiration. You could visit your neighbourhood grocer or supermarket candy aisle or better yet if there's a candy store nearby. Here's a nice video about one of the oldest candy shops in New York City, "Economy Candy".
